What is leading SAFe 5.0 training
What is leading SAFe 5.0 training?
Hello readers, have you been in an agile practice these days? If yes, how long, and what role you have been playing? And how are you finding the opportunities from clients to work in an agile way for the product and/or services delivery? Please retrospect and read this blog further.
Agile — as a proven way of working
Readers, these days, agile is proven as a way of working and method of delivery in most of the organizations; be it a product organization or service organization or government organization even. It would be team level agile in most of the cases, meaning delivery teams are following agile methods especially scrum, as one of the well-known frameworks, to achieve benefits of agile on the ground especially faster time market through early and busines value-driven releases.
Scaled Agile — a Big Picture
As the days go all these teams become mature in agile and agile methods become a part of their software delivery practices. This triggers the need of scaling agile from team level to the next higher level, called program level. So Agile Programs are composed of agile teams delivering the business values driven releases on regular intervals which may get released to the end-users as early as possible to achieve faster time to market for program delivery. This agile-driven program is also getting into matured practice after proven years of experience. This would further trigger for need of implementing Portfolio level agile or Large solution level Agile depending on the nature of the organization. So, result of such successful implementation would be to have agile portfolios in presence where all core delivery and support practices are also being executed in an agile way of working. All leaders and teams become agile and would follow scaled agile practice for all portfolios, solutions, programs, and releases of the products as well. This is called scaling agile practice which will lead to achieve the development of agile enterprises in the current scene of digital transformation. SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework for enterprises), Large Scaled Scrum, Nexus, Spotify etc. are the example frameworks which guide enterprises in scaling their team level agile to the desired level like releases, programs, portfolios etc.
The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is set of organization and workflow patterns intended to guide enterprises in scaling lean and agile practices. It is one of well-known scaled agile frameworks which addresses the challenges faced when scaling beyond a single team. SAFe is made freely available by Scaled Agile, Inc., which retains the copyrights and registered trademarks.
SAFe promotes alignment, collaboration, and delivery across large numbers of agile teams. It was developed by and for practitioners, by leveraging three primary bodies of knowledge: agile software development, lean product development, and systems thinking. SAFe Version 4.5 was released in June 2017 while the latest edition, version 5.0, was released in January 2020.
To implement SAFe 5.0 in an organization, Scaled Agile Academy has mandated a roadmap with certain authorised roles, core values and principles with recommended Lean-Agile and DevOps practices. To play these roles efficiently and effectively in implementing SAFe 5.0 in the organization, SAFe has developed the education and certification programs. All enterprises are mandated to follow the SAFe 5.0 implementation roadmap and all leaders and teams must undergo the SAFe 5.0 trainings and associated certifications. The Professional Certification Program provides a valid, reliable, and consistent method of assessing SAFe skills, knowledge, and mindset. Certified SAFe professionals are globally recognized for their ability to support the successful transformation of organizations into Lean-Agile enterprise.
Following are some of the popular trainings and certifications under the umbrella of SAFe 5.0 which cover different areas and knowledge levels.
In this course attendees learn how to lead a Lean-Agile transformation by leveraging the practices and principles of the Scaled Agile Framework and the seven core competencies of the Lean Enterprise. Attendees gain insights and practice how to coach programs, launch Agile Release Trains, build a Continuous Delivery Pipeline with DevOps culture, and empower a Lean Portfolio.
Here attendees gain the knowledge necessary to lead a Lean-Agile enterprise by leveraging the Scaled Agile Framework and its underlying principles derived from Lean, systems thinking, Agile development, product development flow, and DevOps.
Here teams gain an in-depth understanding of the ART, how it delivers value, and what you can do to effectively perform your role using Scrum, Kanban, and XP. Learn how to write stories and break down features, plan and execute iterations, and plan Program Increments. Finally, learn about the continuous delivery pipeline and DevOps culture, how to effectively integrate with other teams in the program, and what it takes to continuously improve the train.
In this course attendees gain an understanding of the role of a Scrum Master in a SAFe enterprise. Unlike traditional Scrum Master training that focuses on the fundamentals of team-level Scrum, the SAFe Scrum Master course explores the role of the Scrum Master in the context of the entire enterprise, and prepares attendees to successfully plan and execute the Program Increment (PI), the primary enabler of alignment throughout all levels of a SAFe organization. This includes learning the key components of Agile at scale development, how Scrum is facilitated throughout the enterprise, and how to execute Iteration Planning.
This course prepares current Scrum Masters for their leadership role in facilitating Agile team, program, and enterprise success in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) implementation.
During this course, gain an in-depth understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Release Train Engineer (RTE) in the SAFe enterprise. Through experiential learning, examine the RTE role in a Lean- Agile transformation. Learn how to facilitate ART processes and execution, coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in new processes and mindsets. Explore how to prepare, plan, and execute a Program Increment (PI) planning event, the primary enabler of alignment throughout all levels of a SAFe organization.
Develop the skillsets needed to guide the delivery of value in a Lean enterprise by becoming a SAFe® 5 Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM). During this two-day course, attendees gain an in-depth understanding of how to effectively perform their role in the Agile Release Train (ART) as it delivers value through Program Increments. SAFe 5.0 DevOps — 2 days
The interactive course helps people across technical, non-technical, and leadership roles work together to optimize their value stream from end to end. Attendees will learn what DevOps is, why it is important to every role, and design a continuous delivery pipeline that is tailored to their business. Attendees work in cross-functional teams to map their current state value stream from concept to cash, identify major bottlenecks to flow, and build an actionable implementation plan that will accelerate the benefits of DevOps in their organization.
In this teams learn the transitioning to Lean-Agile practices for building technology-based capabilities is especially challenging in the government context.
During this three-day, workshop-oriented course, attendees learn the foundational principles and practices that make up the Agile Software Engineering discipline. Attendees learn how continuous flow of value delivery and built-in quality are enabled by modern practices including XP technical practices, Behavioural-Driven Development (BDD), and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
During this course, attendees will explore the roles, responsibilities, and mindset of Agile Architects, and appreciate how to align architecture with business value and drive continuous flow to large systems-of-systems while supporting SAFe program execution.
In this workshop style course, attendees gain the practical tools and techniques necessary to implement the Lean Portfolio Management functions of Strategy and Investment Funding, Agile Portfolio Operations and Lean Governance.
Recognize how Continuous Exploration fuels innovation and helps you define a vision, strategy, and roadmap to tap into new markets. Find out how to accelerate the product life cycle to get fast feedback and quickly deliver exceptional products and solutions that delight customers — all while aligning with your organization’s strategy, portfolio, evolving architecture, and solution intent.
Virtual or Remote way of course and training delivery –
Due to Covid-19, all the SAFe 5.0 trainings and certifications are driven in a remote way, where all trainers are trained to deliver the workshop using virtual classroom tools without compromising on quality of content and delivery.
